The European SoBigData project has led to the creation of a research infrastructure (RI) that provides an integrated ecosystem for ethically sensitive scientific discoveries and advanced applications of social data in the various dimensions of social life, as recorded by “Big Data”.
The European Cassandra project focused on the study of the supply chain and the diffusion of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS). Leveraging on modern research technologies and the analysis of data from Social Media, it has developed popularity indicators, with the aim of monitoring the spread of NPS.
The Smartnews project, funded by the Tuscany Region, aimes at creating a breaking news management tool that supports journalists in the various stages of the process from the identification of breaking news, to the collection of information, up to the writing of the news.
The CRAIM Project was born from an operational agreement with the Department of Public Security of the State Police for the creation of a joint laboratory for the development of advanced tools and methodologies for the analysis of textual and multimedia information in Open Source Intelligence contexts, to cope with new emerging investigative scenarios.
The project aims to use people as “social sensors” by analyzing what they write on the most popular social media, in order to detect events that cause particular social alarm such as, for example, earthquakes, floods or other emergency situations.
